I suffer from a lot of migraine headaches. I get on average about 12 to 15 a month. I take a daily preventative, and I also take sumatriptan if I feel the onset of a migraine, however I do not always get enough to cover the amount of migraines I get a month. I recently learned that ginger can help with alleviating a migraine in the same way that sumatriptan can, and this drink is a mock up of the Pure Cafe's in Texas called the "Painkiller". Ginger and Turmeric are said to reduce inflammation, which may help with overall well being*. The ginger also helps with digestion, and nausea associated with a migraine*. Be sure to sip slowly!
1 32 Oz. mason jar with lid
1 cup of ice
1 cup of orange juice
1 cup of apple juice
1/2 cup of beet juice
1 to 2 teaspoons of fresh grated ginger
1 teaspoon of fresh grated turmeric
1 tsp of honey, maple or agave to sweeten if desired
Pour each ingredient into the mason jar, place the lid on top and shake up. Pour into a small glass, add some sparkling water to make it fizzy if you like, or leave as is. This makes 4 x 78 calorie small servings or 2 x 156 calorie large servings.
*None of these statements have been reviewed or approved by the FDA, however this does make a nice non-alcoholic cocktail if it does not give you the desired results.
